A Hungry Pair

These 2 baby pileated woodpeckers are hungry and anxiously awaiting their Momma to bring them some food. This pair fledged the nest the very next day.

David, what a great capture. We have some Pileated Woodpeckers in our woods, but so far have not found their nesting cavity. Great work. Linda #6063557David A. Dawson June 15, 2008
Thanks Joao and Linda. I really appreciate your comments.I work for the national park service and I noticed the nest on Tuesday while working. I was off on Wednesday and I arrived about 8:00 am, set up my camera and tripod and stayed focused on the nest until a little after 12:00, just after capturing some shots of the babies being fed. I should be able to work up those shots later this week.
After that display, I thanked the birds for their cooperation and went home fairly content. #6063641
