Gold Dust Gecko - Phelsuma laticauda

Uploaded: May 16, 2008 09:10:39

Description

ISO 200 200mm f/5.6 1/500 sec

critique: technically this image its pretty good, but not quite “wow!”
the main subject of the image is sharp, but it could be argued that the DOF needed to be slightly greater to allow the whole tail of the gecko to be in focus.
the background is blurred out, but there are a couple of blueish/gray areas ( top right & bottom left ) that may be distracting (at current time I don’t know how to fix them skillfully).

the subject is compelling, because it portrays an animal with interesting color and added appeal through the contrasting tropical flower.
the line of the geckos movement & the flowers stamen are complimenting each other giving the image greater graphic interest
the image puts us almost at eye level with the gecko which is a perspective we usually do not get to experience.
usage could be for travel brochures
