Celebration where worlds collide redux

Celebration where worlds collide redux
Description: 100-400 f/4.0L at 100mm, ISO 400, tripod, aperture priority, HDR merge of three exposures.

Considered a sacred place in Hawaiian legend, Black Rock at Kaanapali, Maui, is believed to be a place where ghosts or souls of the dead leap from this life to the next. Each day at sunset locals reenact the feat of Hawaiian King Kahekili, who ruled Hawaii for 45 years until 1794, when he made the leap from Black Rock and lived to tell about it. It was thought that only people with great spiritual strength could survive the fall.
