One in a Million

Description

A companion to a previous entry. Taken at the Phu My orphanage in Saigon, Vietnam in 1972. The Lieutenant's heart for the children in this huge facility (1,100 people - young to old)was obvious. Most of the infants were quiet - not even responding when you picked them up. A few clung to us as you can see.

There were 5 French nuns at Phu My. Some Vietnamese help but understaffed. I've often wondered how they fared after we left.

Absolutely priceless! I love the b&w with the lighting...most of all the emotion felt here!
This is why photography is so important to me, because of images as these. Thanks for sharing! #903990

Thanks, Chastity. The word orphanage hardly described it, really. Children, old, middle, disabilities, mental issues, the whole range of human frailty was represented there.

The other image I have from there shows the child you can barely see in the lower right corner of this one. I'll include the link in case you're interested.
