Thanks so much Lorraine, birdie, Kathleen, Jill and Gary!

Between company, travel, and computer problems I haven't had a chance to look at all of your wonderful pictures for a week or more. I miss seeing everyone's work. Thanks for taking the time to comment on this.

Lorraine--I can't remember the name of these flowers. My brother has bunch of them in his yard. I will try to remember to ask the name. They are kind of like brightly colored leaves on a stalk. Here is another one of the same kind of plant from a different angle. #25241

Thats a rather strange flower, Carol. The second photo was a nice one also! Keep posting those flower photos, cause we're fresh out of flowers up here for quite some time now! #25313

Thanks Carol...I would love to know the name of such a pretty flower. I don't believe we have them in my neck of the woods! Where do you live? Gardening is my passion, besides photography! Your other shot is very pretty too! #25321

Wolfgang Dolak May 26, 2019

The flowers are a Cyclamen species, the ones we have here are Cyclamen purpurascens, but this is probably a crossbreed species.

Hi everyone. I knew birdie would know the type of flower. My sister-in-law says these particular ones are called gloxenias. Does that sound right birdie?

Lorraine, I live in central California. These pictures were taken in southern California, but they grow around here too.

Thanks for you comment too, Carol. It is always nice to hear from you. #25342

These are definitely Cyclamen flowers. I'll look for an URL for you to compare.

There're some (not very good) photos on that site.
Hope that helps!
