Heiliger Sand (Jewish Cemetery) Description: This is the oldest Jewish Cemetery in Europe, it happens to be located in Worms, Germany. It was started in the 11th century, the oldest gravestone is from 1076, and the site somehow was not destroyed during the Third Reich. I don't remember the whole story, but something about the caretaker and favors due to him. It's really quite large and the stones are pretty close together...as they fell over they just set them back up as neatly as possible, not necessarily marking the gravesite. It was quite moving to see.
