Description

Sunrise, Vermillion Lakes, Canadian Rockies. Probably the best light I have ever witnessed. 17-40 f/4 L lens at 26mm. 2-stop hard step GND filter. 1 second at f/18. Single exposure.

Prior to making this photograph I had camped out for 70 days or so in all parts of the Canadian Rockies waiting for the right light on a number of occasions. Not too long after I made this image, I just called it a trip. I figured I could spend a lifetime and never see more dramatic light. Still though, I never tire of the journeys. #5527352

Marc, how appropriate that you won Grand Prize! I was dumbfounded that the vertical version from that shoot ("November the Seventeenth") only grabbed an Editor's Pick, not even Finalist. Somebody must have smeared peanut butter on the judge's monitor that day.
