Description

F/5.6, 1/30s, ISO 100, shot with a point-and-shoot.

This is my office building (not far from my favorite spiral staircase) in Washington, DC. It has these wonderful curving sections. The mesh up top is supposed to stop pigeons, but I'm not convinced it works.

The hardest thing was getting the camera perfectly vertical, while also catching as much of the ceiling as I wanted, to avoid the perspective effect where walls converge toward the top of the frame. That meant I couldn't just point the camera upward.

I actually climbed into an alcove on the right side - it's about 4 feet up. I stood up in it and held the camera over my head. Gotta love flip-out LCDs!

I think I did well on the left, but I didn't quite get it perfect on the right side, so I probably was pointed a bit off to one side. And of course, I can't tweak the perspective in basic editing.

Shot with my point-and-shoot because it's light, so I can easily carry it to work!
