Steve this is a great photo. Beautiful bird with good detail. We see some of these hawks in North Carolina. My son is always looking out of the car window at the tree tops or sky trying to spot them. #5403459

Steve, you must be congratulated on this magnificent portrait. This is a beautiful image.

You disclosed that this image is of a captive raptor, not wildlife. Because of this disclosure, the image can be admired for its photographic quality, and you certainly deserved to be a finalist.

There other photos of raptors that were finalists that were captive but the photographer failed to disclose that, in fact, not only tried to fool members but even failed to respond to posts on the forum where fellow members stated they believed that they were looking at a raptor that was stalked and shot in the wild such as "what remakable wildlife photography"" on one such image.

Your honesty pays dividends, Steve. You gain respect by being honest. Those who pass off captive raptors as "shot in the wild" and fool fellow members lose respect and degrade their volume of work.

Each and every member here wants a level and fair playing field in the contests. For any member here who shot a wild animal and their photo had to be judged up against a raptor that was faked to look wild but was really captive, shot under studio type conditions and was being held by its trainer, was cheated.

Congratulations on your beautiful photo, and thank you for being upfront and honest. We need these other members who are cheating us all to have honesty like yours. #5595535
