The Rattler

Description

The only thing between me and this fellow was a highly trained snake handler and my camera. I was maybe 5 feet from him with both of us being on the floor. No cage, no glass. What an experience!

Rhonda,

Great portrait of the snake. The composition is wonderful and the dark background fits in perfectly with the subject.

Bob,
Thank you very much for your wonderful comments. This was a spur of the moment set up and we used a piece of black plastic tarp for the background.

Ruth,
Oh Ruth bless your heart! You have brought a smile to my face. I was thinking on my way home today that when I post one of the snake photos that I had just taken you would say where is the cute little birds! I am sorry, I guess it is that wild streak in me:-)Don't worry, I will probably be back to the sweet little pretty birds tomorrow:-) I did have Cedar Waxwings visit the yard yesterday and managed to get off a few shots before the Robins ran them off, so I am keeping a close eye out for them. Stay tuned!
Thanks again you two.

Rhonda--all I can say is you are a braver woman than I am. I would have been shaking so hard the snake would have been very blurry. Nice shot. #21299

Carol E. & Carol S.,
I have to admit that at first just the sound of his rattle rattling so loud was a little scary but then I just really got into getting a good shot:-)
Thanks Carol & Carol

I think this could be classified as an adrenalin shot! I think I would have used the timer and put the camera on the end of a stick for this one!

Excellent composition and detail though...great shot!
