Thanks ladies. I do like interesting shapes, lines and contrast. And thanks for the "way cool" Carolyn - you two are pretty "way cool" yourselves. #19078

Very nice Photo.
I think I Recognize this place. This is the place I was fishing for Humpies (pink salmon)last fall and this should be really close to the Little White Church on the Hill. I hope I'm right!!!!
Great Photo

If you mean the little white Lutheran Church with the cemetary on its eastern side, then you're right on that place. And yes, there were several fishermen I had to wade through to get this shot. Sure seemed like a busy spot. Thanks for the "very nice photo" Paul. #22659

I love this photo. Guess I'm in good company since the judges did too. :)

Thank you Conrad, so much. I did quite a bit of work on this photo to get it to this stage. It started out as being part of a much larger picture. This small detail kept cropping up, so to speak, and forced me to concentrate on it. I'm glad I did.

I also read your biography. I was quite impressed and moved by it, because you and I have made similar journeys. All of a sudden (over several years), my camera had more potential significance than what I forsaw when I purchased my first one eons ago. Now my passion for the art has been keeping me preoccupied with cameras and equipment and shooting opportunities however and wherever they may occur.

I'd like to welcome you aboard. This is truly a wonderful site. I have met people from all over the world. It is so wonderful to be able to relate to people on a level that is considerably more than commonplace. I believe photographic expressions can be signatures of inate intellectual energies, provided for my a unique portal of conveyance - the camera.

Keep shootin guy. God bless. #36960

Thanks for responding so openly. That's one reason I'm happy to have found this site. The photographers in the contest where I work are very competitive, not particularly friendly and not very supportive. The idea of being able to share thoughts and be helpful to one another is much more appealing. Woody Allen said the idea of an art "competition" was anathema to him, and I tend to lean in that direction, although I see here that it can be a friendly contest. Judging is very subjective, although it's certainly also clear who has a better command of the instrument and "sees" more. One of the reasons I love close-up photography, which I do a lot of, is that you can literally see more than you can with the naked eye. And passion is the word I'd use as well for my feelings about photography. Your love for the art is very evident from your work. I enjoy all your photos. Thanks for welcoming me to the group!
Best wishes,
Conrad
