China Berry

Description

These native trees grow like weeds in the Houston area and are called China berry or tallow trees. I think they must be related to the aspen tree because they will seed or sprout from the root. They give us some fall color every year regardless of the weather but most people fight to keep them from taking over their yards. Shot with a Canon D30 and a 100mm macro lens on a rainy afternoon.

Pretty!! I can relate, though, we have sassafrass trees, which also come up from the root..We took out 43 trees inside our back fence when we moved here and still there are way too many. And they keep on keepin' on... #19049

Thanks, all. It's a good thing I shot the photo yesterday because it is pouring down rain hear again today. We were about 10 inches below normal rain fall going into July and now we have a surplus with no signs of stopping. #19070
