A bull elk during the rut (mating season) in Rocky Mountain National Park. Taken with the Canon 100-400IS lens at f/6.3, 1/80th sec.

Thanks Bob and all. This was near Horseshoe Park. Believe it or not, it was taken just last week (August 26th). Even the rangers are amazed at how early the rut is starting this year. The bull elk have gathered their harems, are bugling, and as you can see, are all polished up. #751368
