Neat shot, Ryan. Are you a firefighter?
If not, how did you get so close? #18701

Thanks so much for the comments guys. This is part of my university's fire training program. It is the largest fire training facility in Texas. So, no, I am not a firefighter, but a junior at Texas A&M...and thus am able to walk onto any A&M property. This is a giant park of buildings and warehouses, cars, big-rigs, and even boats that they just set on fire and practice putting out. They do this about 5 days a week. I am allowed to stand on the concrete paths that go between the scenarios...so I am VERY close. In fact, I shot this one and then had to drop my camera and cover my face because it was so hot... The most striking thing besides the intense heat is the amazingly loud hissing noise of the flames...it sounds like a horror film. So, yes, it is an awesome opportunity, because I can take these shots almost everyday if I wanted to. I have about 100 images already. This little nook was my most recent discovery and the closest that I have managed to come to the flame... Thanks again for the comments, I really appreciate them.
