I love the effects you have created in this photo, Sherry!!! Could you please explain how you achieved it? Thanks!!! #793335

Nikki McDonald 11/23/2007 11:49:28 AM

Very cool, Sherry. I think this is your best yet with this filter. #5113904

Sherry K. Adkins 11/23/2007 11:52:10 AM

Hi Gretchen. I'm glad you like this. This is actually a statue outside of the American Quarter Horse Association headquarters. The first thing I did was change the background to black. I then used a plug-in called Fractalius(redfieldplugins.com). That's what gives it the neat effects. I then took that layer and layered it over the original layer in 'Hard light' layer mode. I had to do some cloning in a few areas, and a lot of work on the face. I wanted a hint of the face, but I wanted to keep it obscure to draw your eyes to the rope, hands and hat. #5113911

Sherry K. Adkins 11/23/2007 11:54:00 AM

Thank you Nikki and Doc. I'm loving this plug-in! #5113916

Thanks Les, I did have fun on this one. #5114050

Aggie Villanueva 11/23/2007 12:59:49 PM

This is just I like to use fractalius -- with a very light touch. I love that it is just the outlines. You re-worked the filter beautifully and skillfully. #5114093

Bob Cournoyer 11/23/2007 2:15:53 PM

Very cool effects! I like the line of light along the top of the nose.. :-)

Teri Soares 11/23/2007 8:10:21 PM

Sherry, this is a fabulous use of the Redfield plugin! I like have you gave it the backlit silhouette look with the details on the rope, hands, hat brim and saddle horn. You kept the effect subtle, so it doesn't "scream" Fractalius. Nice!

Sheryl A. Hudson 11/23/2007 9:51:01 PM

Pat Gamwell 11/23/2007 10:39:33 PM

I agree with Teri....I knew it was Fractalius, but it wasn't 'screaming'! Exceptionally well done! #5115748

Thank you AJ and Deb. I appreciate your comments. AJ, I responded to your question on the other thread, but I explained the steps on this image earlier in this thread. This is a really neat plug-in and not too expensive, I believe it is aound $39.00. #5215582

Gretchen J. Gilkey 12/17/2007 5:23:28 PM

Sherry - wanted to tell you I purchased the fractalius plug-in and I am loving using it!!! My pics are still getting a very "fractalius" look. I'll work on getting a softer look in the future! Thanks for the great advice!!!
