LOL - it sure is Italian Donna! The deal is these ladies keep the restrooms clean and stocked - in order to use the facilities you must pay them first...I tell you it works for me!

A lot of places here in the US have woman in the restrooms doing the same thing but they get paid afterwards!! LOL>>..She looks a little bit puzzled doesn't she?!.. She probably thought that you were nuts or going to rob her.The poor old woman..... I can imagine what she said when she got home. Great shot Damian. I really like it.. #18379Damian P. Thanks Donna! I tend to not take too many shots with people I don't know in them, but this one I couldn't resist... And I don't think she wanted to have her picture taken.The funny thing about this trip was there were a lot of things I didn't get shots of that I wanted to. There were many fine street artists with their work drawn on pavement in chalk that you'd have to pay to snap a photo and if you'd even try without realizing you had to pay them, an old women would follow you mumbling something you couldn't understand and making strange gestures with her hands. Reminded me of the gypsy making a curse that you see in some of those old movies... not wanting to tempt fate, I'd move on! #18410

You did get some great shots though! I would have quickly ran away from the old woman waving her hands too. She probably was going to accuse you of something that you didn't do. Who knows. It's scary traveling in forign lands expecially when you don't know the language spoken very well and especially if they think that your rich. #18415Patricia Marroquin May 26, 2019
Hi Damian. I too like this photo. I really disliked having to pay to use the restrooms in Italy. One day when we were at the Leaning Tower of Pisa, I stood in a long line to use the women's restroom.
