I was the recreation coordinator for the Valles Caldera National preserve for 4 yrs. There were thousands of elk. I can't remember a single day on the preserve without seeing them. Thanks for all the comments and if you get a chance to go take one of the Wildlife viewing tours in the evening. - #5113894
