Bar-Tender

Description

This self portrait (Digital Art) was created using my Cameras timer, and photoshops "line tool" to make the bar code. Once all the lines and numbers were added, linked and merged those layers and reduced he opacity so the pores of my head could be seen beneath. Next I created a bounding box around the newly merged bar-code layer and applied Photo Shops Pinch filter. Finally, configuring an Auto F/X Mystical lighting filter to create the red-white bar-code reader light, I used the pinch a

I'm confused. I'm sure this came up as a finalist for February! Maybe it's a resub? Anyway, congratulations on a terrific finalist! #1182951

Brian D. Watters March 16, 2005

Hi Debra, thanks and yes, you are confused, but I think I know why. If you look four posts above the one you just left, you'll notice that you left your original comment on this image in August of last year when I first submitted it. :) The only image of mine that became a finalist in February was the one at the following URL: http://www.betterphoto.com/forms/discussionDetail.php?threadID=201420 which also features myself as the model. :)
I have been graced with some luck at having it win on some other sites though.
Thanks again, and I hope this helps to clear the confusion.
Cheers!

Well, not exactly, Brian. I'm looking at row 8 on page 29 of the finalists from the February entries (http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGall2.php?catID=5845&pageID=29&rows=30&style=&contestCatID=&camID=), and I see this photo there. It looks like it became a finalist again like it does when you resubmit a photo. See it? #1183040

Debra, I'm sorry, but you are still confused as I can count how many times I've made finalist on this site. 1st was in Nov of 2001, 2nd Nov 2004, 3rd (and winner) Dec 2004, 4th Jan 2005, and 5th/6th just a couple days ago with this image and my lunch box image.
I looked at the page you indicated, and at the top of the page it says February 2005. The same goes for my Lunch Box entry, and is also indicated on the email I just received on the 15th of March. Next month the Finalists of the March contest will be announced. I think you may have answered your own question, as it would be pretty difficult to pick all the March finalists only half way through the month of March as far as I can tell.
Please feel free to continue posting here if you like, but to be honest with you, had I been confused about something like this, I would have emailed you directly with my concerns rather than add it to a photographers comment page. :)

Cheers!

Brian D. Watters March 22, 2005

Wow, thanks again everyone. I don't thank I've ever had this many comments on an image before.
Dolores, Thanks also, bit there are a lot of really deserving works over there. I had a non DA of the same image, less the bar-code and scanner light win under people, so they might consider it the same image? :) I'll keep trying though, it's one of my personal favorites.
Thanks again. Brian #1199238
