Description

Taken at the Fort Churchill ruins near Fallon Nv. Saturation increased & turned to sepia. I sharpened this one & used a couple filters to try & create a dreamy feel.

Hi Sarah

This image is the one that stands out for me on your gallery because it begs questions. Apart from liking the sepia, the diagonals lead my eyes through the gateway to what?? I immediately Googled Fort Churchill and satisfied my curiosity with a piece from Naval Air Station Fallon's web pagethat informs us that -
"Although only occupied for a brief time, the fort played a major role in Nevada's history. A need to protect white settlers from possible attacks by the Paiute Indians and expanding Pony Express service were the reasons the fort was built. Occupied from 1860 to 1870, Fort Churchill was the first fort to have a cavalry unit."
Interesting and thought provoking to this immigrant Brit. thanks sarah.

This is so nice. This makes me think of a Clint Eastwood western. You did a great job with this. #5865295
