Description

Finalist
I took this ceiling shot in the main entry hall of the chateau at Chenonceau. It wasn't as high as it looks which helped immensely with the lighting but made including enough for a nice pov a challenge. I got as low as I dared in the circumstances--really wanted to lie down on my back but all the other tourists would have had to step over me--and still wasn't happy so I finally laid my camera on its back and took a bunch of shots blind.

Well it sure turned out fabulous Nikki. I know what you mean about those pesky tourists getting in the way. Shame on them. I just hate that. You prevailed over monumental odds and came up with the goods and I love the lines, light and tones. Well done. #4885496

There's an element of mystery with this one, Nikki--it doesn't look like what we'd think of immediately as a chateau ceiling or maybe even any ceiling but makes us wonder what it might be. The inside of a space ship? The textures are lovely and so is the composition. I've tried a sort of semi-blind shooting technique while walking down busy streets and holding the camera at perhaps waist level or a bit above and shooting away. Nothing earth-shaking yet, but lots of fun and hope for something wonderful to result. Nice outside all boxes thinking here. #4890403
