Rain at the sea (Pano)

Description

Every year, like all the islands in the Caribbean, Dominican Republic has a Storm Warning period that lasts few months. In 2004, the Tropical Storm Jeanne reached the coast of the island. The result was the overflow of almost all the rivers. The power of the stream rooted out all kinds of trees to the sea. Hundreds of huge trees (including their roots and branches) were clogged along the seashore. The vision was really amazing. As soon as I reached that place, I felt like been at prehistory. The sea full of trees, the dark sky, the coastline rocks........you smelled the past in the air, and I needed to reproduce it on camera, so I place a Cokin #198 Sunset filter (with other filters) and choose manually a long exposure time to get the unreal eerie effect. Exposure info: Nikon D70 with Nikkor 20 mm f/3.5 AI lens, 20 secs. @ f/22 recorded on a Lexar 512MB Professional 40x (WA) Compact Flash card, ISO 200, Cokin #121 Grad Grey G2, Cokin #198 Sunset, Hoya Circular Polarizing and Hoya ND4 f

This is really striking. You have done a wonderful job! Love the soft water. #4878858

Osvaldo Carbuccia October 03, 2007

Thanks Anne for your kind comment. The soft appearance of the water is due to the long exposure (20 secs.) I used to take the picture. To make it possible I also used ND and polarizer filters. #4879022
