The Red Umbrella
Description:
Monthly Theme for September 2007--Beautiful Blur
As I was strolling along at a local Renaissance Festival yesterday, I noticed this Japanese Umbrella being held by a girl. I really loved the umbrella, but wasn't too sure about the entire scene. So, I took a shot of the umbrella and thought that I would try some different things on PS. With this, I did a radial blur and then a motion blur to the background. I then adjusted the colors of the umbrella until I got the red that I liked best. I had to do some dodging and burning of the letters and flowers on the umbrella to bring them out more. There were other smaller details that I did, too, like use the healing brush to paint in strokes for the background in places I thought needed it.
