Scottish Highlander Cattle
Uploaded: July 22, 2004
Scottish Highlanders are among the most picturesque and beautiful looking of all the cattle breeds. The Highlands are distinguished by their unique shaggy coats of waved hair and a striking set of elegant horns. Records of Highland Cattle go as far back as the 12th century! There's archeological evidence of them from the 6th century. Highlands are the oldest known breed of cattle. Despite their long horns and unusual look, these unique animals are gentle and have excellent mothering traits.

Hi Marcie..Thank you ...and you're welcome. I didn't realize the historical significance of these creatures either!
Thank you, DArren...I was very lucky to have found them in wildflowers! The owners were not happy when I asked to photograph them. Apparently, they are inundated with requests!

Hi Judy! I did shoot these in NH but the lady did not welcome photographers at all! She said she gets many requests (almost daily..I didn't know!) so I offered to print her an 8x10 as compensation for the privilege of shooting her animals but have not heard from her.
Many thank you's Marie! I appreciate it! #664358
