This is a land crab. This type often tries to cross the road at night, and many get hit by cars in Grand Cayman.

These crabs were plentiful in this one area, and many scramble to their holes or under a bush or palm leaf, but this guy got backed up against a tree trunk and hung out while I took a few shots. #661290
