Just a Memory

Description

This is a shot I took in 2005. This was taken on a local farm in Smyrna, TN. The farm has been sold and is no longer there. New development in the area has destroyed the beauty that was once there. At this time, the farm is used for parking excavating equipment. This shot is now just a memory.

This is a repost without the buzz effect. I added a little blur to the background.

Beautiful image with great effects..we're having the same problem here..all the beautiful pastures have disappeared. #733365

Very beautiful, Cheryl. I love the details in the horse and the lovely saturation in colors. It is indeed sad how things are changing so rapidly. The area I live in, people tell me, 10 years ago was mainly farmlands. Now it's all about shopping. I guess the priority has gone from running in the fields to running down the ailses with a credit card. Sigh. #4763453

Beautifully composed, Cheryl, and the light and effects are perfect. I love the tiny yellow flowers in the foreground and the bluish color of the tub. Don't even get me started on the most recent large shopping mall in our town! #4763487

Beautiful image Cheryl! This is happening a ton in my area, and I miss the horses - they are so much more fun to look at than buildings! #4763519

Thank you, Cyn, Sam, Susan and Nikki for your nice comments.

I drive by this old farm all the time and I think about how it used to be. I always enjoyed watching the horses running across the pasture of wild flowers. I'm glad I met the owner before the farm was sold. He took me on a tour of the farm and let me take photos. The trees are being cut down and the road in front of the farm is being widened. The old barn on this farm is still standing, but there is lots of equipment parked in front of it. #4763521

Thanks, Michelle, for your nice comment. I guess it is a common thing in a lot of areas. Seems it is happening everywhere. The area is just growing so fast. #4763527

This is a really gorgeous capture, Cheryl, with great colors and composition. The subtle effect is perfect here.
So sad that "progress" takes such scenes away forever. I've lived three miles from Disneyland for more than 30 years, and you can imagine the wide open spaces that used to be, versus the amount of concrete, asphalt, etc., that's been spread year after year. "They paved Paradise, and put up a parking lot." #4793121
