Car and Turbines

Uploaded: August 20, 2007

Description

During a trip up north, my group encountered a series of huge windmills all lined up in the beachfront. In this area, wind mostly comes from the north-east, from the sea towards the land. Optimizing the full benefit of the winds, the wind turbines were installed along the shore facing the sea.

The Mills were built by a power development corporation to help in reducing the emission of harmful greenhouse gases causing global warming.

The "Wind Farm" as it is called consists of 15 wind mill turbines. The turbines are on-shore and arranged in a single row spaced 326 meters apart. Their height stretch from ground level to center of nacelle (that part holding the blades) to 70 meters high. And each blade is 41 meters long giving a rotor diameter of 82 meters and a wind swept area of 5,281 square meters.
