Thanks Paul, Donald, Dominick, Joan and Philippe for your nice comments.

This picturesque region within the Virginia Highlands is best visited in October...when fall foliage is at its peak and each scenic overlook along Skyline Drive seems more spectacular than the last.

This mid-summer trip was quite special though...especially early in the day when mist and summer haze helped to accuentuate those "folds" of morning light.

Beautiful view of this amazing piece of nature. I did this drive many years ago, and it was just beautiful at every turn. Great shot! #4672553

Thanks Shirley.

I've often recommended touring Skyline Drive for the scenic beauty that abounds there.
