Description

Manual mode, 1 sec, f/22, RAW, ISO-100, Hitech .6 ND grad, tripod. This was taken 7/29/2007 near Queenshill, Worcestershire, UK. It is a normally dry field that has been flooded due to record breaking rain in July that resulted in the Rivers Severn and Avon overflowing their banks. Thousands had to be evacuated but fortunately there have been no deaths but tens of millions of pounds in damage to property and business.

Amila & Narendran,

I took this yesterday morning from a bridge on the M50 in nearby Worcestershire. The nearest town on the map is Queenshill. This field is normally grassy but sits near the River Severn which has overflowed it's banks as has the Reiver Avon. This year we have experienced the worst rain and flooding in nearly 100 years in the UK. The towns of Gloucester and Tewkesbury have been devastated by flooding and Tewkesbury was virtually made into an island. Almost the entire area has been without fresh water since this past Monday - boy I can't wait to take a shower again :)

Cheers!

Great...!!! Could'nt have been better....perfect lining of the trees on both sides....this is an editor's pick and may be a winner if entered in the right category...! #4574897

Uh oh,

Which category would you have recommended I submit this one to? Out of habit I submitted to Nature & Landscapes. Would Elements of Design have been better? Water under the bridge now I guess - sorry for that :)

Cheers!

I've seen phootage from the UK on the news here in Denmark, it's very scary. It's very rainy here as well, there have been floods. It strikes me that the water surface is so calm, it makes the photo quite surreal. Hope you get to normality soon.. #4574967
