Straight in the (eight) eyes

Uploaded: June 08, 2004

Description

Satis Barbipes is a 5mm jumping spider. It was shot at F8, 1/60sec and full 36x Zoom with external flash, Nikon6T+Sigma lens stacked. It was on the wall of my parents house in the French Riviera.

spiders are such interesting creatures. I love the way you captured its eyes. did you take it off the wall to place it in a better lit location?
anyway I love his colours and those eyes only a mother could love haha

Thanks for the comment Pamela.
I do find spiders interesting, but only as long as they are not too big ! ;o)))
It was on the wall when I shot it, ligtning was not an issue thanks to the external flash. Futhermore, it was very cooperative and seemed almost as curious as I was. I could shoot 20+ pics, and even got it to pose for me the way I wanted by tapping on the wall gently beside it.
Don't think I would have tried that with some bigger jumping spiders ! :o)
