Great image and effects!!! #669375

Terrific, Mitch! You know, I can now tell if an image is yours without seeing your name. It will invariably be an unusual subject that has obviously been done with great care and precision. The sign is wonderful. I'll bet getting it made took as long as fixing the piling would have taken. :)

Don't ya just love the drybrush filter. I do, because it hides so many sins, Like noise. Makes me go back into the archives to see what I may be able to use. #4372989

Nikki McDonald level-classic June 06, 2007

Beautiful, Mitch. The colors and lines, esp in the hanging slickers, are wonderful. A very light effect, indeed. I cannot see that you have used it, but the resulting "painting" is lovely. #4373223

Phil Stith June 06, 2007

I just love this shot...the multi-colored slickers, the pilings, the old aluminum v-hull and the over all tone makes it a winner in my opinon. Terrific capture, Mitch!!!

Colette, Steve, Pat, and Nikki--my many thanks for your wonderful comments. Steve, I don't know how to say thank you for your extraordinary compliment. But know, please, how much I appreciate it. Oh, my, yes--you do wonder about why that sign was made and why the piling wasn't just fixed. And then, maybe it was fixed and they just forgot to take down the sign. :) Pat and Nikki, I have found this filter to be just right for some things, and in this case, as I said, it is "light" for a fairly gentle effect. This particular image didn't really have a problem I don't think. It's just probably that I've learned some "stuff" in general since then. :-) And I'm delighted that you like it. Nikki, you mentioned the slickers. Isn't that green one there amidst all the oranges and yellows kind of a neat thing to have come across? Maybe that's the boss's. Thank you once again. #4373478

Phil, when I wrote my reply, your comment hadn't appeared yet, and I want to thank you too, of course. I very much appreciate your comment and am happy you like it too. #4373488

Dianna Hauf June 07, 2007

Hi Mitch!! I have to agree with Phil! I see a real winner in this! I really like the way the sun hitsthe side of the building and all those 'slickers' and the wet 'dock'! (?) The colors are vivid, and the textures are seen and 'felt'! It truly is a wonderful 'capture'! #4376818

Nadya Johnson June 08, 2007

This is tremendous, Mitch!! What can I say after all the other comments?? Only, Wow! A beauty! #4377346

Mitch Spence level-classic June 08, 2007

Thanks Dianna and Nadya. Because of the long, long day at this time of the summer, the low light was dramatic. It was about 8:30 p.m. Dianna, I have realized that I probably subconsciously took this title from your previous comment on Art in the Ordinary, which was taken in the same town. Thanks for the title! #4378542

There is so much to take in here, Mitch...I love the late sun shadows brushing against the slickers...their color heightened by the late day sun. The effects are so very subtle. Beautiful!!! #4384222

Laurie, thank you. I'm glad you find it pleasing and the details and the handling engaging. And thanks again, Nikki, for letting me know about EFP. #4386827
