I know better now to think you're submitting this! Nice test shot, Jim (or is it your wife's? '?)) (Plus the other two shots below was where the program was "stuck".) #7931

Hi Dolores,

You are right in that I was testing the system. And I would never enter the contest myself ;^)

But this is a real shot made this past weekend on a backpacking trip in the North Cascades. I was experimenting with some of the techniques I learned in Tony Sweet's Image Design photo course.

Here is a "Before" shot that illustrates the difference between static vertical lines and dynamic diagonals. #12004

Well, okay... that shot shows how static HORIZONTAL lines affect the viewer ;^)

Here is the corrected version, rotated back to it's proper orientation. #12007

Hi Jim...let me rephrase what I meant to say earlier, "nice shot used for testing purposes!!" I wasn't reducing your beautiful photo down to being only a "test" shot. (Great lighting BTW!)

Ah..Two very different compositons. Would you agree that the rocks placed in the abstract rule of thirds in horizontal format strengthens the dynamics of diagonal lines? That's what I can see from the two perspectives demonstrated here. #12009

I also meant to say, "abstract lines of" rule of thirds....not "abstract rule of thirds". Having another senior moment! #12010

Yes, most definitely. It accentuates the balancing act betweent the various elements.

Thanks, by the way, for the compliments. To be honest, I was hoping for something a little better. But I got to stop comparing myself to artists like Tony Sweet. Live and learn, right? #12014

We're ALL hoping for and aspiring for excellence! I took a peak at some of Tony Sweet's images...fabulous!! He does have a few years on you, Jim..not fair to compare yourself to him! #12027
