Peggy summed it up. The tone really gives this a wonderful effect. Caught my eye right away. Great capture!! #4343819

This is a great photo, taken with perfect timing. I can't believe you were able to get this shot with wings outstretched, gull coming in for a landing (?)... not an easy thing to do at all.
The reflection in the water is also very special. How was the reflection achieved? How did you get close enough to use a "fill flash" as the bird was coming in?
Great Photo. Thanks in advance; I would love to learn how to take pictures like these. I am very impressed!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments.
Catherine, in response to your questions, this was a photo I took of a gull while it was hovering overhead as my husband threw potato chips. The "technique" works very well with gulls if you have a nice breeze. The gull was backlit and I used my Canon 430EX Speedlite for fill flash. The refection was much easier – I used a flood filter. It’s very easy to use, and you can download a flood filter for a free trial period so you see if you like it. I try to use this filter sparingly and only when I can make it look somewhat natural. #4360841
