I love the clean design of this image with the smooth lighting, linear elements and color contrast, Kerry!! #697422

Hi Melissa,
How nice to hear from you! I'm pleased that you like this photo ... it was one of my favorites from a recent outdoor car show shoot.

Lighting is always such an important part of photographing cars (and other subjects, too, of course), and I was able to catch this fine car in the beautiful early-morning light ... while the car owners were arriving and getting their vehicles in position. In one of my recent classes, several people in class attended their first car shows and were amazed how friendly the owners are ... they love their hobbies and they love photographers who take the time to stop by and shoot!

Glad you mentioned the linear elements and colors of this car. My goal at car shows is always to zero in tight on the lines, colors, patterns, angles and other graphic-design elements. Then, with the tight composition, I'm able to leave out the surrounding distractions, and at outdoor car shows, there are always tons of distracting things going on ... sooooo much better to leave them out of the frame altogether.

Thanks again for the nice thoughts, Melissa ... much appreciated!

Thanks Kerry for replying. I have begun a series where I get up close to car parts or parts of other things...the goal being to lose the subject and have a pure design. I posted one today and no one has yet guessed that it is a simple hub cap!!

Your work does this best and I have put a few of your images in my gallery to study!! #4559350
