Description

1/40 at f/7.1; Lens 24-70 f/2.8L; Focal Length 60; ISO 200; Hand Held; Natural Light; B/W conversion in PSCS3

My wife and I spent a lovely afternooon at the North Park Nature Center in Chicago. While there, I saw this stack of firewood piled up next to a tree and thought, "is that a cruel joke?" None-the-less, I had to make an exposure.

I agree with everyone: great B&W, perfect composition, nice textures, wonderful use of light and shadow, strong design elements in the repeated design created by the chopped wood, and a title that helps us see the irony you saw. Great job, John. #4273899
