Elk at Sunrise

Description

This is from Rocky Mountain National Park the sunrise was very mundane so I did the following in Photoshop.

I duplicated the original raw file then opened the two files in Adobe Camera Raw and produced an orange and blue version. Upon opening the two I stacked them into one file with the blue image on top. I added a layer mask to the blue image and then used the gradient tool to reveal the orange image below.

This is a bit further than I would normally go in terms of adding color in an image in Photoshop, but for this lesson I thought it might be fun to play with it a little.

The valley that I took this was literally full of elk, hundreds! I hope to return to this spot in the fall may be I will get a really naturally brilliant sunrise and an elk with a bigger rack.
