This is a fantastic shot Steve! Great action! Jake is a natural at flying! The only thing I would think about changing is maybe not having Jake in the center of the image. Maybe crop al little off the top and some on the left.

Thanks for the comment, Dave. I was aware of his position. Here is my dilemma: I want the perspective of the trees, the height at the bottom, the rock at the right, and the space at the left for "movement." So... I'll play with it, but I think Superdog is stuck in the middle. :)

I understand your dilema.. This is the way I would have cropped it, leave the rock, the height at the bottom. I would have taken some of the space at the left, and cropped to the waterline at the top.

I like your new version, maybe because I saw your other version I like Jake jumping in from the left side. All this is personal preference.

Either way it is still an awesome shot!

Thanks for looking again, Dave. I've tried what you suggested, but the basic problem remains: I can't get him far enough away from the center without removing something important. However, I have discovered that the flipped version works better. I think I will enter the original in flipped form.

Norman P. Banks May 02, 2007

Love it Steve!

Great timing and capture of mans best friend in action, althought I can't help wondering if you didnt have someone throw Jake in the lake so you could get this shot, Hmm... (huge howl)

Your bud,
Norm #4239612

Steve M. Harrington May 02, 2007

Hey Norm! Good to hear from you. No dog throwing here! First of all, although Jake was very young, he still weighed about 50 lbs. in this shot. But for the best evidence study his demeanor: determined expression, landing gear down, and tail rudder activated. :)

Kimi A. Phillips May 03, 2007

Love it Steve! Do you have the "landing" captured too? #4243085

Thanks, Peaches and Marac. We were a half day's paddle into the wilderness, so anyone in the bushes was either badly in need of help or fun enough to join in. :)

Steve, I don't know how I missed this one?! What a fantastic shot. D'Artagnon currently has Lime so he hasn't been swimming but I did show him Jake and now he isn't speaking to me! #4265282

Steve M. Harrington May 09, 2007

Thanks Dave. Tell D'Artagnon he isn't being a proper Golden if he isn't absurdly friendly at all times. :)
