Great composition, but one problem, the highlight on the pear is too white - my photgraphic instinct at a quick glance is that you used a flash too close!!

I wood have kept it more yellow. #4594393

Following up on Stewart's comment about the light on the pear. I do still life work using natural light from mostly north-facing windows and I get just this kind of lighting. Personally I think it's perfect. It offsets the dark shadows especially on the right side of the image. Perhaps you could let us know if you used a flash, diffused light or something else Virginia? #4597328

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for your kind remarks...I feel honored to have so many nice comments from the BP community! This photo was taken without a flash, just light from a north-facing window. I always try to use natural light. I know it looks like a blue plate under the pear, but it's actually a bowl which gives the darkened shadows especially on the left side.
