Nice job, love this capture. Was this part of a Jail at one point? #115525

Thank you Karen for your interest and comments. Yes it was a Jail, and was also used as an "enemy alian internment camp" for the duration of world war 1. Today it is a Museum. #469597

You certainly did a great job of turning something that used to be so "ugly" into something so beautiful. Really like the way you captured this. #470471

Karen, it certainly is a great photographic site to visit, with a huge amount of possibilities. I will try and send a couple of other photos of the jail. #471278

John,
Thank you for the additional photos. It is amazing that something so old is still standing. They really knew how to build them back then... Also what I ment by "ugly" was the purpose for which such a beautiful building was built for, not the actual aesthetics of the building. After I sent that I hoped that you would not miss understand my meaning.
I enjoy your photos and I cannot wait to see more. Will you be getting a website soon?
I have had a love affair with Austrailia for over 20 years now, you are very lucky to live in a place with such diverse landscape. #476950

Thank you Karen for taking the time to comment on my photos. This prison was specifically constructed to hold prisoners so they could carry out public works in the district. One such project was to build a granite seawall, but this was never completed as rough seas washed most of it away. #478226
