Description

This marks the one year anniversary of my first BP collage. When I first joined BP, the mini-pics were just portals to a bunch of impersonal pictures. Over time, I've had the pleasure of getting to know people. Some I've gotten to know real well; others, mostly thru a handful of mutual comments on our pictures.

Now when I see a mini-pic, I don't just see pictures. I see people. And I see a human spirit. I've met single folks, married, divorced, going thru a divorce, and widowed. I've met people that are struggling financially, that have survived cancer, that have cancer, and that have battled neurological diseases. Everyone has a unique life story, each with their own joys, sorrows, hopes, and dreams. But you'd never know it by looking at their mini-pics.

So, for the BP staff, thank you very much for creating BetterPhoto.com! I'm sure I'm not alone in expressing my appreciation for all the hard work you do for us. And for my BP friends, thank you! I've met many of you and hope to meet more this year. And I've gotten far more from you, in terms of photo assistance and friendship, than I can ever repay!

For the folks that are new to BP, please realize it's more than just mini-pics and pictures. There are life stories out there and I hope you take the chance to get to know someone. Yes, it's a risk, but for me it was worth it!!

And finally, I'm sure I overlooked someone so please, please accept my apology. It was not intentional.

Boy am I late responding to this! Like everyone else, I'm really touched and honored to be in your collage. I echo the many comments others have made about the BP community spirit. I don't know about other sites (except for small interest groups); I found BP just as I was getting into photography, embraced it and didn't look further. Almost everything I've learned about photography, I've learned here and a large part of THAT has been personally from Ken, who still regularly pops into my gallery to see how I'm doing and guides me along. So busy, stressed and overworked I can only look at and comment on a few entered photos in one catagory each day---but I get much more in return! WOW, What a piece of work and so many feelings that you put into this. I missed it when it was posted; I was on the airplane heading north to visit the kids and grandkids for the week. When I got back, I was so far behind looking at everyone’s galleries, I totally missed it.

Today, I was reading comments from Kitty and she mentioned this collage in one of her comments and how she had to leave the computer as she was overwhelmed with the emotion of it. I too find it so emotional; I have learned so many things about the people and their lives here on this site. IT TRULEY IS a fantastic site with EXTRA SPECIAL people. Just saw this image used in the BP email that went out this week, for classes on sale, I think... I missed the collage when it first came out, but I think the sentiment is spot-on.
