Mary, I think we are cut from the same cloth, this tulip shot is such a great use of negative space. I have a photo on my Member Gallery page titled Simply Tulips, where I too use a lot of negative space. Great photo, Mary, and kudos on using a tee shirt, I find pillow cases and construction paper make great back drops. #106677

Thanks, everyone, for your comments! I was actually planning on going to the fabric store today and get some scraps of various colors to use as backdrops! #423636

Very interesting composition, simples and effective. I just think this image lacks some more sharpening and color saturation.
Very clever use of a red shirt as background ... this is making the photography easy and cheap. #457759

Thank you so much for taking the time to give honest feed back, I always appreciate that.. After all, it is the only way to know if you are on track or not.. Let me know if this is more to your liking.. Saturated and more unsharp mask in ps. I really didnt like to saturate it anymore, though, as the colors you see are what was 'real' so to speak.. I think the stems were just a little over exposed, though, and I guess that is what troubled me most about the image, besides the blemish on the petal.

Thanks for your time,
Mary #458696

Again, thanks for the hints about using construction paper as backdrops! Great hint and I really appreciate it.

Could you send me the very first digital image (file size isnīt problem) to ??? If so I could make some arrangements and send back to you with detailed explanation.
I think the way you did good, but not the best correction imho. #460216

f-13, tv 1/8, ISO 100, 300mm (x 1.6 magnification factor), tripod, cable release, hoya 81b warming filter. Taken under my carport for more even lighting, using a red t-shirt as a backdrop.
