Dexter Profile

While my wife and I lounged in our living room on New Year's day, the setting sun streamed through our window in one of those perfect ways we only seem to hear about. Our dog, Dexter, happened to be sitting right in the wash of light. I sprang up, grabbed my camera, and began shooting before I lost the opportunity. In just a few minutes, the light was gone but I had my shots.

Thank you, Susan! #3947446Nikki McDonald February 14, 2007
I can see why you like this, John. I love the lighting; somehow it seems soft because of the DOF and sharp--look at that wonderful eye and the wiskers--at the same time. I love the slight tilt to the head, too; you have Dexter's full attention. #3948231John Caruso February 14, 2007
Thanks, Nikki. I was shooting so wide open that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get focus on what I wanted. But things all worked out: his eye was right there and the light hit his whiskers just right. Thanks again for commenting! #3948494
