Cancer---There is Hope

Uploaded: December 11, 2006

Description

From left to right. The two black and white images depict cancer patients and their supporters preparing to enter treatment. The third image shows a lady going thru cancer treatment, represented by the maze. Notice the fear, determination, and hope that's displayed on their faces. The last image shows a family with joy on their faces. They have exited the maze, signifying the successful treatment.

Cancer has tremendous impacts. We all know someone that's (1) survived cancer, (2) succumbed to cancer, or (3) has cancer. This includes many BetterPhoto members. We've seen their mini-pics from time to time, but most have not walked in their shoes nor felt their emotional turmoil. All we can offer is our love, support, and prayers.

This exhibit is in Omaha, Nebraska.

Nice work Ken. Fantastic dedication to all the people that have delt with cancer. I have three good friends that are dealing with it. They all have been on chemo and radiation. One has been cured and is on the upside of it. The other two are still being treated. My prayers are will all that have it and have had it to stay in remission and for the ones that will one day here that word from their doctor. #570477

Ken. I am always moved by images that are more than pretty pictures. Your image puts me in mind of Holocaust and War portrayals and I have spent time looking at it and thinking deeply. I had colon cancer and surgery both in 1997 and 1998 and am now clear. I choose not to talk about "remission" as it often begs the question "how long do the docs give you?" Thanks, Pete #3690638

Peter W. Marks December 11, 2006

I am taking the unusual step of adding another comment as there was insufficient room on my first response.
Part of my daily "ministry" is to talk about cancer to customers and colleagues at work and to persuade the 50+ guys and girls that they should discuss with their docs when they should have colonoscopies etc. God has given me the ability to do this. #3690678

What a wonderful, encouraging story and image! Lost my brother and dad to lung cancer, (smoking) and mom to colon (from their smoke?) and the real message we need to learn is early diagnosis and testing! We grow in strengh emotionally and spiritually through these times!

Very powerful, Ken! Somehow I missed this image earlier. I'm glad you brought it to my attention! I get the feeling this has had more impact on more people than you will even realize! So well done! And so very thoughtful, too. Life is not "Tiptoe through the Tulips" all the time, and that's for sure. I also loved your piece on Hope. Very uplifting, Ken - both posts. #3864589
