Hi Jeff and Robin: You have to wake up very early in the morning to get this kind of shot:) Thanks so much!

Thanks, Roseann, Murry and Bonnie, these were difficult little guys to catch. Your comments make it worthwhile:))) #404980

This is wonderful! I was visiting in the Ft. Myers area this past week-end and went to find the burrowing owls. However, I didn't get up as early, and the lighting was too harsh and the owls were down low. They're still cute, though.

Congrats on a great capture! #405075

Fabulous and delightful shot Penny! Good for you to get up early to shoot this pair! For some reason that give me a smile. Maybe they remind me of two little old men. #405262

Carolyn J. Connolly March 04, 2004

This is a wonderful capture Penny! I can just imagine how difficult it was to catch this pair of owls - and how early you must have had to get up! You have a great background here, excellent composition and lighting, and your image is so sharp... Bravo!! #407501

Thanks Cindy, Diane, Bill, Pat, and Carolyn for your wonderful comments.
Cindy--they were in a field in Cape Coral but you had to be there at sunrise and or a few minutes after to get the right light. There were quite a few in a field but most of them were shy and flew quickly. There were short posts set up and they did fly to them. Bill--I had on my 100-400 with my 1.4 converter to get even near them but it was so interesting. Pat--they did remind me of little men sitting out and looking at me, they just needed a swing and a pipe! and Carolyn...I took quite a few shots to get them looking at me. When I thought I had them, one of them was looking the other way, like shooting kids:)

Thanks again....

Thanks for that Penny! LOL - yes, i'm sure you're right when you say that shooting those owls was like trying to photograph kids!! What did W C Fields say about never working with animals or children!!! I like to take quite a few shots, as you did with the owls, just to try and get at least ONE good one! It doesn't always work - and sometimes you only have the chance to get one quick shot, but at least we try don't we?! Happy snapping Penny! #407588
