Neat image. I like the short DOF in the front. I also like the diagonal composition. Perfectly lit. Nice :) #804375

Hi Jayme,
What could be sweeter than shooting candy for a commercial client? The trick with this shot is to give enough definition to the swirl on top of the caramel to give it shape and dimension. It would be bad if the swirl showed as a blob in the picture. I used a large light source, about 4X4 feet on camera left and a small light on the right of the camera. This gives more reflection tot he right side of the candy. The sort depth of field keeps the eye in the shot. I’m glad you like the shot. Thanks! John Siskin

I really enjoy working with food. The key is to create a more three-dimensional look for the food, to make I look more real. The light really helps with this; you want to create texture and sparkle. Also you want to be close to food to give a greater sense of shape.
Thanks John Siskin
