Description

Happy Birthday OzOS (aka BetterPhoto member Jeff Ziebell) – who is currently back ‘home’ in Australia on holidays. Hope you’ve had a great day my friend!

The Sydney Opera House is actually a complex of theatres and halls all linked together beneath its famous shells. Since its opening in 1973, it has become the busiest performing arts centre in the world, averaging some 3000 events a year with audiences totaling some two million, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week (closing only on Christmas and Good Friday).

I am having all sorts of problems with this site tonight, so am signing off for the night.

This lovely comment appeared on another thread from Evy Johansen. She wrote: Wow.... Awesome image, Donna!!

Thanks Evy and everyone else who has managed to avoid prolonged waiting to make ANY type of comment at all.

See you all tomorrow for the FINAL image in this series.

Your series is quite impressive Donna!! We have visited in and around this icon on many occasions, which for me, started back before there were any of those white tiles on the shells. The company I was serving my apprenticeship with had the job of doing the lead flashing on the shells with very heavy quality lead. Whilst I didn't get to work on that job I did visit the site to get equipment for other city jobs we were doing. Later after we were married, Carolyn was working for the company that supplied much of the timber for the opera house interior, including the concert hall ceiling. Her job was invoicing and costing the supply. So you see we have a certain affinity with this little chapel!! You have depicted the spirit of the building very well with your great collection of images. Well done.
