I like this sort of thing; the abstract quality makes it seem almost Impressionistic. I've got a few like this I'll share as time goes by.

Mary,

(What happened to your typing-- "McGrsyj??") ha.

I had to stop and comment on these two rainy day/thru-the-window pics. I love the rain--especially days like this. The traffic in the rain pic is my favorite. The blue color, the available light, and the cars' tail-lights work together nicely and set the "blue" mood.

The second shot is very good too, though it is more disturbing than calming to me because of the way you have cropped/framed it. Makes me feel a bit confined, but I like what you've done.

BTW, I hope you had at least one eye on the road when you took this! I guess this is better than being on a cell phone while driving.

Looking through your viewfinder is pretty scary while driving--especially when it's a tele-lens! I was trying to shoot a quick pic of the sun setting last week while inching along on 635 in Dallas. Even though I was not driving, I still flinched when I caught sight of the car just ahead of us with my 300mm lens! Apparently, we trust what our eyes are telling us before any other sense. Just thought I'd share that with you. Ha.

Take care-- pc lehman, dallas, tx. #561

I uploaded/commented very late one evening, and obviously wasn't paying attention. Actually, I took my shot when I was in SF in a hotel room, bored with no place to go due to the weather. I probably had no rain-gear with me! It does have a bit of an "institution" air about it, eh, like some prisoner unable to escape his/her surroundings...Thanks for your insight/feedback. #583

Hi PC,

Thanks for your very nice comments on my Driving in the Rain shot. Yes, I must admit I occasionally have been known to shave in the car, talk on a cell phone, and take a picture - but not all at the same time :) #592

Mary and Jim,

My bad--I mistakenly thought these photos were both Mary's, as I must've covered Jim's name when I scrolled down the page to reach the comment box.

I would not have compared your rain shots had I been aware of my ignorance. (Get's me in trouble all the time...)

I certainly welcome your opinions on my submissions.

Sincerely,

pc

Your photo's lack anything that would contribute worth looking at. It's a blur. I understand you are trying to capture rain, or what it looks like driving in Washington or whatever, but it's just a blur. I'm sorry but that photo isn't really good. #1027

Hi, I really like both of them! I've always loved photos where the viewer is looking through a window with rain on it. And you're right, don't try this at home! Early one foggy morning, I was driving waaay behind a log truck, very slowly and thought I'd get a shot through the fog with my 200mm zoom---when I zoomed in, I was right on the bumper! I dropped the camera and nearly ran out of the road! Needless to say, I haven't tried that again! (I know this is an old post, but wanted to comment) #205454

I liked "driving in the rain" quite a bit. While the rain makes it blurry (of course it's going to), it gives the shot a rich enjoyable texture. I like the way it almost has a monocromatic blues-look, although the red lights make for a nice accent. Well done. #750006

Well, art is in the eye of the beholder, blurry or not. That's what makes life interesting... #750297
