Today I shot photos of models and of some of the inhabitants of Little 5 Points in Atlanta.
The Digi-Net guys, Russ and Robert, I shot for were wonderful and so were our models and our street people we met. So here are a few shots of some of the Little Five Points citizens who let me photograph them and who also talked with us.Really kind and interesting people.I asked them if they would prefer living on the streets or someplace else. They all said "on the streets. " So here is to them! God bless them! If you have never spoken to the homeless, you might be surprised by the conversations. They were to me!

Thanks, Darryl. He definitely does not look homeless. But he is.
I don't know his past, but I know his present. He lives on the streets.
They do not like to give out exactly where. He was picked up a few nights ago by police for something
they assumed he did, he says, but then they let him out a day or two later. However, his fiancee who was living with him became afraid of living alone on the street, didn't know when he would ever return from jail, and checked into a homeless shelter for women of which there are many. He does not know where she is. Is looking all over for her. The shelters for women will not tell you if a person is there or not. So all he can do is leave notes and pass on the word that he is back and looking for her. Communication in that realm is very different that ours with our computers, blackberrys, even postal mail, phones, etc. So that is his current story.

This is one of my fav photo of people, Patrick. He was highly intelligent. His verbal skills were way up there. This part of Atlanta in some ways reminds me of parts of New Orleans, but in Little Five Points one is relatively safe and can actually sit down with some of the homeless and just talk. That day will always remain in my memory. I need to do more stuff here, not just photography, but in the helping zone. Thanks so much for looking at my "people" photos. Means a lot to me!Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
