Harsh land

Uploaded: September 02, 2006

Description

This is how the inland of Iceland looks like. Only the neck edges of Iceland are inhabitated, the rest of it (most of the inland) is colourless, windy area without any vegetation. A kingdom of wind and sterile land. Pretty harsh place to be in, but beautiful in a way, makes you see how nature is mighty and powerful compared to people and permanent inspite of all human progress and development.

I absolutely love this, Marijana!! Wow! So lonely, so dramatic! I can well appreciate this kind of scene! The Baja peninsula is also a "kingdom of wind and sterile land." Much of it is just about as desolate and hostile as the surface of the moon. A person either loves such a wilderness or hates it, over time. We used to live down there. I found it fascinating and magnificent! This, although it isn't desert, has that same untamed look. (You wouldn't like being stranded in it, but I think it does the soul a lot of good just to see the Earth and nature in that undressed, wild state!) GREAT capture, too! #3261341

Thank you very much Ivan Judyann and Nadya for your comments!
Nadya, I had an opportunity to see all faces of Iceland, not just those which are loved by the tourists. I found them fascinating. There is an amazing power coming from that bare land which makes a person respect it and admire it. People from there know what a treasure they have and they keep it by living with nature and by the natureĀ“s laws in every way. Thank you for your comment :-) #3263248
