Turn Around NOW!

Uploaded: August 13, 2006

Description

F4.2, 8 seconds, shot from the dashboard of our car. Minor saturation boost. As always with lightning shots, the best of dozens of attempts! Somewhere between Le Mans and Paris, during a terrifying storm following on the heals of a heatwave. We missed the golfball-sized hailstones by a couple of minutes...

WOW, Christian!! VERY striking capture!! I think the rain on the windshield adds to the effect: the only other way to get this, would have been to stand on the road in the rain, so this was probably the only way to go. I think we'd have figured it was from the car in any case. GREAT SHOT! #3160292

Thanks Patric,

Its interesting, I've gotten mixed reviews about those raindrops on an other site. I guess that's what makes photography so rewarding - everyone interprets the images as he or she sees fit...

Thanks Nadya,

The raindrops ultimately didn't bother folks that much - what freaked them out was that it appears I'm driving and shooting at the same time! Scary! Luckily , my wife was driving and I was leaned over the dash on the passenger side, pressing the tripod against the top of the dash. Everytime we hit a bump, I knocked my head on the windshield. But it was worth it, eh? #3199575
