Havasu Twilight

Description

Havasu Falls near Havasupai village which is located in a side canyon to the Grand Canyon. I used a 3-stop ND grad filter to hold back the sky exposure so as to bring it within the latitude of the film used (Fuji Velvia).

Inge Johnsson August 06, 2006

Hi there and THANKS everybody. As for the question regarding what lens I used, it was my trusted TS-E 24mm/3.5L Canon tilt-shift lens. I also used a 3 stop ND grad to hold back the sky exposure since it was so much lighter than the waterfall and rock. I shot it on Fuji Velvia 35mm film.

This place is amazing and I really recommend that you visit it if you get an opportunity. I helicoptered in and hiked out. The hike out was a fairly strenuous 8 mile uphill battle... #3132420

Hi Howard and thanks. I was there in May of last year. We stayed in the Havasupai village motel for two nights. Lots of "Navajo" fry bread... (it's actually Supai fry bread I guess). #3134544

Mick, Kerby, Susana, Donna, and Joannie, thanks for your appreciation! Sharing this photograph is the next best thing to what I felt as this scene developed before my eyes down there in the canyon.

Joannie, no I'm not in Plano, TX anymore. However, I find myself surrounded with more nature subjects here in the Pacific Northwest that I did in Texas. But the skies are grey more often. :-) #3394530
